With more photographers, enthusiasts and professionals alike, in the market for a compact, pocket-friendly camera that doesn’t sacrifice quality, Fujifilm introduces the brand new X30. More than 18 months after the release of the X20, the X30 isn’t a giant leap forward, as it still features a 12 MP 2/3″ X-Trans II CMOS sensor and a 28-112mm equivalent F2.0-2.8 lens with manual zoom adjustment. It’s upgrades however, include the move from an optical to an XGA OLED electronic viewfinder, a larger, tilting 3-inch LCD screen,  a control wheel around its lens, improved battery life and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Fujifilm’s X30 will be available this September in black or silver/black for $600 USD.

Cobra head bites and kills chef in China, even after being decapitated 20 minutes prior

Cobra-Head-Chef

FoodBeast/RocketNews 24:

A chef died after being bitten by the decapitated head of an Indochinese Spitting CobraThe Mail Online reports that Peng Fan was cleaning out the cooking area of his restaurant in the Guandong Province of China. The restaurant serves the cobra as a delicacy in one of their soups. Fan was in the middle of throwing out the severed head of the snake into the trash receptacle when it bit down on his hand. The snake’s head had already been severed for twenty minutes by then.

At the time, the restaurant did not carry any anti-venom for the cobra dishes they prepare. Fan died of from asphyxiation due to the neurotoxin from the bite before any medical help could arrive. While strange, it’s very much possible for a cobra to retain it’s motor functions even several moments after decapitation. It’s advised when handling dead cobras to either bury or burn the heads immediately to prevent them from biting you.

The spitting cobra was believed to providehealth benefits for anyone who consumes it.

Toyota to bring cack the Land Cruiser 70 for one year only in Japan

Toyota is set to bring back its iconic LAND CRUISER 70 for one final hurrah. The catch? It will only be available in Japan and for one year only. The rugged off-roader traces its origins back to 1984, when Toyota introduced the SUV to its domestic market, and while production for Japan may have ceased 10 years ago, it has remained a fixture in many smaller markets.

Now in its 30th year, the design is being revived with a few modern tweaks, mainly to the front end and the interior, and will also be available in a pick-up variant as well as the traditional closed body.

Check out the video to see more of this legendary vehicle.

Hajime Sorayama x British Knights “Art and The Future” Pack

Image of Hajime Sorayama x British Knights "Art and The Future" Pack

British Knights releases its new “Art and The Future” pack done in collaboration with veteran Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama.

Featuring leather and suede uppers, the collaboration presented a chance for Sorayama to apply his signature metallic style to sneakers as a medium, something he had always wanted to do. The reflective silver finishes are nicely contrasted by rusty bronze accents, giving both the Control Mid and Control HI silhouettes a realistic element of weathering and a play on the otherwise full-metal palette. Matte grey pieces and flat shiny laces give added dimension while keeping with the robot-inspired look intact.

The collection is now available at select dealers including the HYPEBEAST Store. To see our previous interview with Sorayama on the collaboration and more, head over here.

Watch this world-class swordsman play Fruit Ninja… IRL

Things don’t get more samurai than Japanese swordsman Isao Machii. The world-famous swordsman was probably best known for being fast enough to slice a speeding pellet in half mid-flight. If he can do that with such ease, I’m pretty sure he can slice a watermelon or two in half. Perhaps even a barrage of various fruits, a la Fruit Ninja.

Machii is the Guinness World Record holder for a number of different sword skills. The swordsman recently took the Fruit Ninja challenge in front of crowd in Los Angeles. There, a variety of fruits were propelled at Machii as he sliced through them like butter with a katana.

The 41-year-old swordsman made real-life fruit slicing look so easy, you’d think you were finger-swiping an app. Check out the video below and gaze upon his skills for yourselves.
