Japan is captured in spellbinding fashion by photographer Takashi Yasui in this photo series. Training his lens on well-known sights such as the Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizudera shrines, Arashiyama bamboo forest, and Gion geisha district of Kyoto, the founder of the RECO photography collective portrays them in new light and a heightened artistic sensitivity to the country’s undeniable mystique.

My name is Takashi Yasui, I’m 35 years old, and live in Osaka, Japan. Basically, I take photos in Kyoto so I call myself a “Kyoto Photographer.”  About five years ago, when my niece was born, I started taking family portraits; that’s how I got into photography.

About 4 years ago I installed “Instagram”on my iPhone and began to follow photographers from all over the world. This had a big impact on me: I met a lo of Instagrammers in Japan, leaned about photography, how to shoot, how to edit, how to find a location, composition, perspective, and things like that. Recently, I met few talented photographers from the US, Canada,  and France, and was exposed to their take on shooting. It really helped me to grow as a photographer. Now, photography is a more of a pleasure, it is a passion for me.

I’m shooting with Fujifilm X-T10, X-M1 with XF14mmF2.8 R, XF35mmF1.4 R. Editing with Lightroom, using VSCOfilm presets.

A police officer is gaining attention in Korea for her gender and good looks.

Kim Miso was nominated for Miss Maxim Korea in 2014, however, she is now pursuing a career where she can protect and serve. According to Korea’s Dispatch, the 25-year-old Miso left modeling behind, trained at the Central Police Academy and now works for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department.

Air Jordan 1 China-only Charlotte Hornets “Feng Shui” release

As we all know, Michael Jordan is the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets, and as a result, we get to see some pretty fly Air Jordans inspired by the franchise.

This time around, the iconic Air Jordan 1 features a wonderful combination of purple, teal and white, making for a solid drop. Unfortunately however, this is slated to be a China-only release, which is why the brand has opted for a rather peculiar nickname for this model, considering it’s colorway.

Feng Shui is a “Chinese term that translates to wind-water in English, and is a philosophical system of uniting the mind, body and soul with the surrounding environment,” says Sole Collector.

The Air Jordan 1 “Feng Shui” will hit select Chinese stockists starting October 10.

Supermodel Jourdan Dunn heads to Thailand for her new cooking series “How It’s Dunn”

Supermodel Jourdan Dunn has teamed up with Amuse to create a cooking program titled How It’s Dunn.

The model talks about her experiences with cooking and her taste for spicy food and in the first installment of the new series, Dunn takes to the streets of Thailand to explore the country’s local cuisine and test the boundaries of her own tolerance to spice. From sauntering through fresh-food markets to braving cow’s blood noodle soup, this is only just the beginning of Dunn’s culinary pursuits.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium: The first smartphone with a 4K display

The recently announced Sony Xperia Z5 Premium can boast of being the world’s first production smartphone with a 4K display, by way of a 5.5-inch screen and 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, equating to an unparalleled 806 pixels per inch.

However, Sony also claims the Z5 has a two-day battery life, defying conventional wisdom that a higher-resolution screen consumes more power. To achieve this feat, Sony engineered the Z5 to only display photos and videos at the ultra-high 4K resolution, while all other content is displayed at 1080p Full HD for battery conservation purposes.

Otherwise, the Z5′s other selling points include complete waterproofing, 4K video recording with image stabilization, a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, and a 23MP rear camera. While pricing and availability is yet to be announced, you can find more details here.

Burger King Japan’s black burgers are coming to the US just in time for Halloween

Burger King will be celebrating Halloween by putting some terrifying black-colored buns on its Whoppers.

Burger King Japan‘s black burgers are coming to the US. The burgers, a variation of a type that launched in Japan last year, are rolling out in late October for Halloween, according to a source who works for Burger King.

The sandwiches will feature black buns and a Whopper patty topped with A1 Steak Sauce, cheese, pickles, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, and onion.

News of the burger’s US launch was first reported by a Reddit user claiming to have access to Burger King’s internal website. Unlike the black burgers released in Japan, the US version doesn’t have black cheese or squid-ink sauce.

The black cheese made the burger in Japan look pretty unappetizing. Here’s an ad for the burgers that launched last year:

Medicom Toy (Japan) release “Deadpool” figurines

Pop culture toy company Medicom has turned its attention to Marvel antihero epic Deadpool, with these two classic toy iterations. Featuring Deadpool in his iconic red and black regalia, there’s also an X-Force version, that comes in white and black with red eye detailing.

Highly collectible and soon available for around $67 USD here, the toys go on sale from October 4.

Japanese soccer star Keisuke Honda’s award-winning fragrance leaves some wondering if his head is still in the game

It’s safe to say that the current main sports in Japan are baseball and soccer. The older of the two, Japanese baseball, can be defined by its players’ almost militaristic commitment to the game developed through the harsh training they undergo as youths.

However, with soccer, it’s not uncommon to see players with shaggy long hair or even dye jobs, and along with that a new attitude to playing professional sports in Japan. As a result, the nation may be witnessing its first true sports celebrity in Keisuke Honda: AC Milan and Japanese National Team forward and now an award-winning perfumer.

On September 10 the Japanese Fragrance Association got together and honored L’eau de Diamond with two of their prestigious awards: Popular Men’s “Fragrance of the Year” and “Best Bottle Design.”

This scent was a joint venture of Honda and Japanese fragrance maker Fits which was released in 2013.

More than just critically, L’eau de Diamond has excelled commercially as well. It’s said that to be a hit a scent should sell 30,000 units in a year, but Honda was able to move an impressive 140,000 bottles in only ten months. Sales also show no signs of slowing.

Although he’s clearly gearing up for the transition from soccer to business and maybe even public office, it looks as if Honda will try to stay in the game until the World Cup Russia in 2018. We might have seen the 29-year-old make an exit before then, but after the Japanese team’s ousting in the group stage at Brazil with zero wins Honda no doubt has revenge on his mind.

So even despite his line of fragrances, fine clothes, and snappy haircuts, Honda apparently still hasn’t lost his passion to play the game that has given him so much.
