Pokémon fan creates spectacular 3D hologram battle dome entirely from scratch

RocketNews 24 (by Scott Wilson):

Who hasn’t wished that they could have a Pokémon battle in real life? Nintendo 64 game   and its successors were fine and all, but they were basically just glorified Game Boy battles; we want to see Pokémon slamming into each other, breathing fire and ice, and maybe — just maybe — actually touching one ourselves.

And now thanks to Reddit user kennywdev, the world is one step closer to that dream

Kennywdev wanted to create a 3D game to move holograms around using QR codecards. However, what started out as a generic project suddenly got interesting when they decided to use Pokémon as the test subjects.

Japan’s Cat Island tweets a plea for cat food, gets so much they can barely store it all

RocketNews 24 (by Preston Phro):

Cat caretaker asks for cat food on Twitter, gets way more than she bargained for!

Aoshima, also known as Cat Island, is probably Japan’s most famous tiny, remote island, thanks to all the media attention it’s gotten over the years. Of course, when your island has way, way, way more cats than humans, it’s hardly a surprise the Internet would fall in love with it!

But it’s still a remote island, approximately 13.5 kilometers (around 8.4 miles) away from Nagahama Bay, without much in the way of stores. There aren’t even any vending machines! All of this can present a problem when it comes to feeding the adorable felines. So, one caretaker, seeing that they were running low on supplies, decided to turn to Twitter for help.

The way this story turns out probably won’t surprise you, but we bet it will warm your heart!

“Please send cat food to Aoshima.
We are steadily running out of food.
Naoko Kamimoto
Aoshima Cat Protection Society
52 Aoshima, Nagahama-cho, Ozu-shi, Ehime Prefecture
In case you need our phone number, please contact us individually.”

“Please understand our current situation.
There are no stores to buy food here on Aoshima. There aren’t any vending machines either.
The people here acquire their necessities by taking a boat to the mainland.
However, it’s extremely windy in winter, and boat service is often suspended.”

“Today, I am heading to Aoshima.
Over 40 packages are to be delivered.
Thank you so very much, everyone, for sending us supplies.”

“Thank you for all the supplies.
We can’t get any more cat food in the storage area, so we put it in the waiting room.
With things the way they are now, we have enough food to last until the end of March, so please don’t send any more for now.
Thank you very much.”

“Please stop sending supplies (cat food) to Aoshima.
We got far more than we ever expected, and there’s no more storage room. We’ll be fine until April. Thank you all very much.
Wow, the cats of Aoshima are incredibly popular!”

RocketNews 24 (by Scott Wilson):

Never before have there been so many things for your cat to ignore, all under one roof.

If you’re the lucky enough to have a feline friend friend of your own, then chances are you want to make them as happy as they make you.

Which is why Amazon Japan recently opened up the “Cat Store” section of their site, to help cat owners find the perfect presents for their pets—ones that, hopefully, won’t be ignored or abandoned quite so quickly.

The “Cat Store” consists of over 26,000 of the highest-rated cat-related items out there, broken down into categories and sorted by user ratings so that you can be sure you’re buying something that your cat might *gasp!* actually use.

▼ Along with cat food, collars, toys, and litter boxes, there are “cool bed tents,” “stylish cat goods,” cat towers, “fun toys/scratching posts,” and more, so that your cat can be the most pampered on the block.

A very rare Lamborghini Sesto Elemento turns up in Hong Kong

Getting your hands on a Lamborghini in general is no easy feat for most. Getting your hands on a Lamborghini that’s a one in 20 is near impossible. However this mission was a possibility for one lucky buyer in Hong Kong who managed to cop the very rare Lamborghini Sesto Elemento — a car originally conceptualized in 2011.

The car comes with a set of impressive specs, as to be expected from both the maker and its limited production run. The Sesto Elemento is encased in a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, carbon fiber bodywork and carbon fiber wheels, making the automobile something of a solid structure to say the least. The Sesto Elemento also boasts advanced glass-ceramic matrix tailpipes, as well a carbon-ceramic breaking system which adds to the overall ultra-lightness of the car that totals only 2,202 pounds.

As for power, this Lambo comes strong with a 5.2 liter V10 engine that’s naturally aspirated, and houses an impressive-for-its-weight 562 HP and 398 pound-feet of torque.

Häagen-Dazs Japan’s new ice cream flavor will taste like yogurt and honey

HD Honey & Milk top

RocketNews 24:

Häagen-Dazs Japan has announced another tantalizing new flavor, and we’re already wondering what the combination of dairy and honey will taste like!

Yes, their new mini cup ice cream flavor, scheduled to be released on April 19th at supermarkets and convenience stores across Japan, is going to be “Honey and Milk (Yogurt-style).”

So, does that make this product a yogurt-like ice cream or an ice cream-like yogurt? Well, whichever it is, honey and milk has to be a winning combination, right?

According to the product description on the company’s website, the mini cup Honey and Milk is made of a rich milk-based ice cream prepared with a “yogurt-like flavor” and mixed with a subtly sweet honey sauce. It actually contains heat-sterilized fermented milk, giving it the sour-yet-refreshing taste of yogurt. Add honey sauce to that and the result is bound to be delightful, especially considering how tasty actual yogurt and honey are together!

The Honey and Milk ice cream will come in a 110 milliliter (3.7 ounce) cup at a price of 294 yen (US$2.59).
