Yohji Yamamoto x adidas Originals Superstar “Metallic” Pack

As part of the ongoing anniversary celebration of the Superstar silhouette, adidas Originals has commissioned frequent Three Stripes collaborator Yohji Yamamoto to offer his own unique take on the classic shoe. Yamamoto’s iteration is definitely one of the most unorthodox that we have seen, featuring a bold metallic leather upper in vibrant red and blue, contrasted by a white midsole, heel pad and Shell Toe. Finishing touches include blue waxed laces and Yamamoto’s signature branding on either side.

The Yohji Yamamoto x adidas Originals Superstar “Metallic” will carry a price tag of $380 USD and will be available at select adidas stockists in the coming weeks.

NEIGHBORHOOD (Japan) x adidas Originals 2015 Spring/Summer Lookbook

adidas Originals speaks with NIGO about recent collaboration

With his Superstar 80s collaboration dropping, NIGO speaks about working with adidas Originals and the state of Japanese fashion today. Undeniably a style icon and visionary, NIGO’s ideas and work impacts a whole generation of creatives. Heavily influenced by vintage trends, his collection with adidas Originals consists of sweatshirts, jeans, and of course the iconic Superstars.

In terms of Japanese fashion, NIGO notes that style in Tokyo is an amalgamation of Western and European styles, influenced by the metropolises of New York and Los Angeles, but with a distinct flavor that is hard to pinpoint, yet undeniably Japanese. Believing that “the future can be found in our past,” take a look inside NIGO’s mind in this video.
