Grateful Dead x Medicom Toy (Japan) “Dancing Bears” Bearbricks

As a more unconventional addition to Medicom Toy’s wide selection of collaborative Bearbrick designs, the famed Japanese toy house has come together with American rock band Grateful Dead on a 100% and 1000% “Dancing Bears” edition.

Paying homage to Bob Thomas’ original design that appeared on the reverse of the band’s History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear’s Choice) album. Rendered in a series of banded colors running throughout its design, the “Dancing Bears” Bearbricks are now available from Medicom Toy for ¥1,600 JPY (approximately $14 USD) and ¥36,000 JPY (approximately $307 USD) respectively.

Medicom Toy has tapped Andy Warhol on a number of occasions and now the Japanese toy giant is calling upon another late, great artist: Jackson Pollock.

Featuring 100%, 400%, and 1000% Bearbricks, the collaborative endeavor sees the trio of ursine figures covered in the abstract expressionist’s signature splattered paint motif.

Retailing for ¥1,500 JPY (approximately $12 USD), ¥8,800 JPY (approximately $73 USD), and ¥37,000 JPY (approximately $308 USD) respectively, the Beabricks can be pre-ordered now through January 10, 2016 via Medicom’s web shop, project 1/6 and C.J.MART.

Medicom Toy (Japan) ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ 100% Bearbricks

With the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film set to hit theaters next March, Medicom Toy has unveiled a set of 100% Bearbricks to get fans excited for the forthcoming release.

Featuring Superman in his modernized hero suit and an armored Batman, each figure measures in at the standard 7 cm size. The Dawn of Justice pack comes with both Bearbricks as a set and retails for ¥3,000 JYP (approximately $25 USD).

Kidrobot & Sket One transform the Dunny into a Sriracha bottle

Fresh off the release of the Ron English and Mark Dean Veca-designed figures, Kidrobot is back at it — this time with a spicy take on its signature Dunny.

Designed by Los Angeles-based visual artist Sket One — who previously decorated Medicom Toy’s Bearbrick in the Huy Fong Foods motif — the three-inch-tall figure is transformed into a sriracha bottle and will come in two variations: “full” and “empty.”

Blind boxed, the $14.99 USD sriracha bottle Dunny will soon be available via Kidrobot’s web store in limited quantities.

Siam Center x Medicom Toy (Japan) Worldwide Tour II Be@rbrick

The Siam Center in Bangkok has announced it has joined forces with Japanese toy manufacturer Medicom Toy to host the famed Be@rbrick World Wide Tour II, an exhibition that showcases some of the rarest and highly-coveted bear figurines in existence. Among the limited edition Bearbricks on display will be from graffiti artist Andre Saraiva, illustrator James Jarvis, photographer Mika Ninagawa, NEIGHBORHOOD founder Shinsuke Takizawa and Hong Kong native Edison Chen.

In addition to a commemorative tribute to Thai graphic designer and street artist Mamafaka, a Thai-themed Bearbrick wearing Muay Thai shorts and gloves, and the traditional Mongkol and Prajioud, will also be released.

The Be@rbrick Worldwide Tour 2 runs through until July 13.

Mazinger Z x Medicom Toy (Japan) “Super-Alloy Z” Bearbrick

Medicom Toy drops a new Bearbrick collectible with the “Super-Alloy Z” Bearbrick (Plated version). Taking upon the shape of the Super-Alloy Z character from the Japanese robot manga and anime series Mazinger Z, the 145mm-tall toy weighs about 400g and features a silver body with the red, blue and yellow markings of the super robot.

The Medicom Toy “Super-Alloy Z” Bearbrick will be available for purchase here this September for approximately $82 USD.

‘Star Wars’ x Medicom Toy (Japan) 400% & 100% Darth Vader “Chrome” Bearbricks

In celebration of this winter’s highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Medicom Toy and the Star Wars franchise have come together to reissue their Darth Vader Bearbrick — this time in a special “Chrome” edition. Now sporting a metallic sheen, the figure is otherwise the same as previous Vader Bearbrick releases, coupling the beloved villain’s iconic look with a bear-shaped form.

Available in both 400% and 100% sizes and retailing for ¥8,000 JPY (approximately $67 USD) and ¥1,500 JPY (approximately $13 USD), respectively, the “Chrome” Darth Vader Bearbricks will be available June 20 at Medicom Toy Exhibition ’15.
