ASICS GT-II “Navy”

Originally released in 1986, the GT-II silhouette was the first runner to feature ASICS’s GEL cushioning system. It has since become one of the brand’s most popular retro runners, and a new colorway has been released for the spring season. The latest version is rendered in a toned-down navy colorway, and features a tonal coated leather upper with white branding at the tongue and heel, which sits atop of a crisp white midsole and a rubber outersole.

Priced at €89 EUR (approximately $95 USD), the ASICS GT-II “Navy” colorway is available at select stockists including Caliroots.

ASICS GT-II “White”

Joining the “Green Ash” edition of the GT-II this spring is a clean white take on the classic ASICS runner. Ditching the aforementioned green pair’s suede construction in favor of a breathable mesh base and leather overlays, the release comes decked out in white and sports light grey hits to the heel counter and outsole while blue accents are subtly incorporated throughout.

Fans of the predominately white GT-II can find the retro silhouette now at Titolo.

The “Black” pack is comprised of the Gel Saga,Gel Lyte III and the GT-II, each of which is outfitted with a classic pairing of black leather, suede, and nubuck at the upper. Each of these is also complimented with a luxuriously comfortable midsole and black outsole.

Designer Ronnie Fieg continues his storied partnership with ASICS as the two renew their relationship for their latest collaborative endeavor: “Rose Gold” and Sage editions of the Gel Lyte V. Amassing 10 different materials between the two, the release sees an updated and reimagined take on the “Rose Gold” colorway that graced the GT-II at the hands of Fieg back in 2012. This time around the colorway sees the addition of a second Pantone to the crossing stripes for a bit more depth while the 3M formstripes are asymmetrical–white on the lateral side and blue on the medial.

Joining the “Rose Gold” Gel Lyte V is a “Sage” edition of the retro trainer. Decked out in premium pigskin and combining a micro-perforated sage-colored vamp with sea green overlays, the kicks sport hits of premium white leather while an open mesh material amplifies the silhouette’s unique sock liner. Rounding out the look are aqua blue formstripes and subtle safari print detailing.

Retailing for $170 USD each, the “Rose Gold” and “Sage” editions of the ASICS Gel Lyte V will be available this Saturday, August 30 at 11 a.m. EDT at Kith‘s 66 Bleecker St. pop-up, Kith Brooklyn at 233 Flatbush, and KithNYC.com.

The hubbub around Ronnie Fieg‘s latest World Cup-related project has been substantial. Going big with it, Fieg orchestrated a pop-up shop in São Paulo at Cartel 011, announced the release of Kith Football Equipment, and cooked up a new collaboration with ASICS in the form of a Gel Lyte III and a GT-II as part of the “KFE” pack.

While the “USA” Gel Lyte III in all-gold leather pays homage to the American team, the royal blue GT-II in pigskin serves as a nod to the host country Brazil. Both sneakers are being sold to ticket-holders only at Kith locations in New York.
