Nike to collaborate with Commes des Garçon pattern cutter Chitose Abe’s innovative label Sacai

Nike has unveiled its plans to release a womenswear collection in collaboration with Sacai, the innovative Japanese label helmed by former Commes des Garçon pattern cutter Chitose Abe. Constantly reinventing her signature runway looks with exciting textures and material, Abe has garnered an impressive fanbase within the fashion industry, including the beloved Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld.

The Japanese designer will now lend her dynamic designs to Nike Sportswear, crafting an eight-piece collection with inspiration from the sportwear giant’s extensive history. “Our excitement to work with Chitose was really born from her unique understanding of form and silhouette. Many of her collections have inspired the design team at Nike, through her elegant and graceful application of materials” said Kurt Parker, vice president and creative director of Nike Sportswear.

Joyce Boutique Hong Kong 2014 Fall/Winter Lookbook

Joyce Boutique presents its latest collection for the 2014 fall/winter season, contrasting bright prints and knits with the atmospheric confines of a derelict building complex. This season’s curated selection includes Dries Van Noten with a show of technical, contrasting materials, the reinterpreted and deconstructed classics of Sacai, and Thom Browne‘s exaggerated, voluminous silhouettes.

Korean designer Juun.J makes a repeat appearance exhibiting his collaboration with American artist Josh Luke to created a series of pieces that utilize bold, oversized typography in a fashion inspired by mid-century American billboard signage.

Look for these pieces at the boutique’s Hong Kong location in the Central shopping district.

Sacai (Japan) Spring/Summer 2015 Collection

sacai-spring-2015-mens-collection-1

In our opinion, Japanese brand Sacai has been for several seasons now one of the most interesting brands to come out of Japan and thankfully to also get some attention outside of the country, which is unfortunately not the case with most Japanese lines. The brand’s designer Chitose Abe is known for her unique use of fabrics, innovative materials and especially for the innovative combination of different materials. That continues to be the case in the Sacai Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

The general outdoor theme of the brand is also still apparent. Perfectly in time for the current sandal trend, Sacai presents a gladiator sandal, very much looking like a Birkenstock collaboration. From solid colors, beautiful custom check patterns, to camouflage and other more attention seeking colors, the range includes it all. Layering is still the expertise of Abe and certainly the most interesting way to wear the brand, as seen in the above styled looks from the brand’s Paris presentation.

sacai (Japan) for Vans 2014 Fall/Winter Preview

Image of sacai for Vans 2014 Fall/Winter Preview

Vans‘ latest collaboration with Japanese fashion house sacai sees the brand’s classic SK8-Hi sneaker re-imagined with a designer touch. Reminiscent of sacai’s fall/winter collection “inside out,” the sneaker’s fluffy interior makes it the perfect shoe for cooler months.

The combination of black suede on the toe and heel with dark grey saddle allows for versatility, while the ribbed stitching on the heel tab and white sole remains true to the original.

Keep an eye out for these available soon online at Dover Street Market.
