RocketNews 24 (by KK Miller):

After 50 years on air, Ultraman has become an iconic hero of the modern Japanese age. He’s such a staple of Japanese TV that he is being included in a set of themed “working hero” shoes released by Converse All Star.

Is Ultraman really a normal everyday working hero? Who else is part of this line-up?

Mechanic, astronaut, hunter, fireman, police officer, Ultraman??? Maybe it’s not that Ultraman is some normal “working hero”, but that the people who do these other jobs are actually working superheroes!

If you are ready to take on the responsibilities of Ultraman, the super flashy red and silver Ultraman R Hi All Star will cost you 9,500 yen (US$88.80). However, that isn’t the only Ultraman star getting a brand new set of shoes. Collectors can also grab a pair of Baltanseijin R Slip Ox for the same price, or some Eleking R Hi for 8,500 yen ($79.45).

Following up to its popular collaborative COMME des GARÇONS x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 collection released earlier this year, the two iconic brands come together once again for a distinct footwear collection. This time around, Converse’s Pro Leather silhouette is reworked with CdG PLAY’s unmistakable heart logo.

The range features four variations that include two low-tops and two high-tops. Featuring a varying palette of black, white and red, the leather uppers feature the embroidered chevron logo distinct to this Converse model. A clean white rubber sole rounds off the look.

The collection currently retails between $135-140 USD and is available now at select retailers such as Feature and Dover Street Market.

ASICS GEL-Lyte EVO “Samurai” Pack

The latest modernized takes on the beloved GEL-Lyte III are fit for the dojo thanks to ASICS’s upcoming release of the GEL-Lyte EVO “Samurai” pack. Looking to the military nobility of early-modern Japan for inspiration, the pack sees a trio of colorways with tonal armor-esque uppers as speckling and gradients decorate the design’s dual-density midsole.

Complete with the EVO’s signature four-piece tooling, the trio of “Samurai” executions are due out October 16 at ASICS stockists in the UK.

Hypebeast:

As we all know, Michael Jordan is the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets, and as a result, we get to see some pretty fly Air Jordans inspired by the franchise.

This time around, the iconic Air Jordan 1 features a wonderful combination of purple, teal and white, making for a solid drop. Unfortunately however, this is slated to be a China-only release, which is why the brand has opted for a rather peculiar nickname for this model, considering it’s colorway.

Feng Shui is a “Chinese term that translates to wind-water in English, and is a philosophical system of uniting the mind, body and soul with the surrounding environment,” says Sole Collector.

The Air Jordan 1 “Feng Shui” will hit select Chinese stockists starting October 10.

Why millionaire Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh lives in a $950-a-month trailer home

Most CEOs live lavishly with expensive sports cars, private jets, beautiful models, and million-dollar homes, but the CEO for Zappos lives in a Las Vegas trailer park and enjoys spending his time with Marley, the community pet alpaca.

Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh has a net worth of $840 million but finds expensive living quarters too private for his liking. Instead, Hsieh lives in a comfortable 240-square-foot trailer home in downtown Las Vegas where he pays a whopping $950 a month for rent.

ASICS GEL-Lyte V “Red Mamba”

After dropping a white version of the GEL-Respector and a black colorway of the fan-favorite GEL-Lyte III, ASICS is back with a brand new addition to its snake-inspired “Mamba” pack for Summer 2015.

Coming in the form of the GEL-Lyte V, the release echoes the aesthetic of the previous two drops, donning a luxurious faux snakeskin upper and a monochromatic execution — in this case, a bright red hue.

Retailing for $130 USD, the “Red Mamba” take on the GEL-Lyte V is available now via Sneaker Politics while supplies last.
