Watch the floor disappear at The North Face’s new South Korean store

 

In a publicity stunt for The North Face, Korean advertising agency Innored masterminded this prank on unsuspecting shoppers at a retail space in South Korea. After supposedly being given free time to browse the selection of outdoors wear in the shop, the shoppers were taken aback to find the floor suddenly disappearing beneath them, forcing them onto a rock climbing wall at the back of the shop.

A North Face jacket then descends from the ceiling, and shoppers are given 30 seconds to make a heart-pounding decision in the video above. Titled “Never Stop Exploring,” the stunt tests the degree to which those who shop for The North Face products truly adhere to the brand’s image of thrill-seeking and adventure.

For its inaugural collection, THE NORTH FACE’s Korean exclusive White Label division adds a grouping of printed bags to its comprehensive fall offering. Consisting of a variety of functional items, including travel bags, backpacks, clutch bags and more, each piece easily transitions from your everyday commute to the great outdoors. What’s more is that each bag sports a unique all-over, camo-like print as the overall purpose of this label is to bring the brand’s signature aesthetic to Korea’s style-conscious community.

THE NORTH FACE PURPLE LABEL‘s penchant for ultra high-quality, functional outerwear designs is further illustrated with the Japanese imprint’s new Detachable Lining Field Coat for Fall/Winter 2014. Essentially coupling an updated take on the classic fishtail military parka with a detachable down-filled liner, the design sees a water-repellant exterior of high-density polyester taffeta paired with a polyester liner that’s filled with KODENSHI down for lasting heat retention. Additional design details include the likes of a storm hood, zippered placket, adjustable cuffs, and a duo of zippered front pockets.

THE NORTH FACE PURPLE LABEL’s seasonal Detachable Lining Field Coat will soon be available in khaki, navy, and black colorways from nanamica for ¥73,440 JPY (approximately $670 USD) each.

The North Face x eYe Junya Watanabe MAN

The North Face have teamed up with Japanese menswear mastermind Junya Watanabe‘s MAN label for this new chore coat. As ever, the designer’s love of workwear is made apparent, with large front pockets and corduroy detailing matched by a camo fabric and what appear to be taped seams.

THE NORTH FACE PURPLE LABEL follows this season’s drop of aloha-printed bags with a collection of dalmatian-spotted outerwear and accessories. Inverting the pattern to pair white spots with a black base, the range includes the Japanese label’s 30D PERTEX-constructed Mountain Wind Parka alongside a trio of bags, a collection of cases, and a skirt for women.

THE NORTH FACE White Label 2014 Spring/Summer video (South Korea)

Having previously made an introduction earlier this month with a look at its Fall/Winter 2014 range, here we get a closer look at THE NORTH FACE‘s White Label imprint with a new video.

Kept specific to the South Korean market (and the dismay of many The North Face fans), the video highlights the brand’s fishing- and camping-inspired aesthetics in a setting resembling the Yosemite National Park in the U.S. The video does well to honor the original concept, “Camp Curry In Yosemite,” as well as the brand’s own outdoors heritage.

THE NORTH FACE has unveiled its White Label via this well-executed, outdoor-inspired lookbook for the fall/winter season. The all-new collection offers up a bevy of technical garbs and accessories that have been updated with modern cuts, patterns and details. Hues apropos to the fall/winter season such as brown, olive, navy and black set the tone for the collection, while vibrant hits of yellow, red, green and blue breathe character into the ensemble. A standout garment is the down square-quilted tweed jacket with a removable hood, which features brown detailing at the shoulders, as well as a distinct blue inner lining.
While the White Label is limited to the South Korean Market for the time being, the impressive array of pieces on display here makes it hard to imagine that select items will not make their way to other markets.
